Mochudi Buffaloes join privatisation bandwagon

First Division side, Mochudi Buffaloes have followed in the footsteps of FC Satmos and Gaborone United (GU) to go private. Buffaloes are expected to change to a private company before the new season kicks-off.

Club manager, Clement Molefe said they have been preparing to privatise since the end of last season. After much deliberation, it was agreed that the only way to make the club sustainable is to run it as a private company. "For the past 10 years that I was manager here, I have used my money to fund the club's activities and other members of the committee have done the same and clearly we cannot continue like this. We needed to come up with a method that could make the club sustainable," he said.

He explained that companies and individuals have already shown a lot of interest in buying shares in the club. "Already we have pledges from those who have been involved in the running of the team and the total money they have offered is P45,000 and this does not include what other business people have offered. But what is going to determine the percentage of shares would be the value of the company in December," Molefe said.
