"Re ba utlule ba re seba maabane, tanki morena re kopane le bone (They have been whispering about us but we have met them today)," the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Moeng Pheto erupted into song when given the podium to welcome the Botswana All Africa Games (AAG) team at a dinner on Saturday. The Minister caused laughter and left everybody yearning for more when he sang praises of the team that has had a successful outing at the AAG.

He told the gathering that it was the song that the team sang when the going got tough at the games. He said it was a motivational song for team Botswana. "When you go to battle, you prepare your troops and when the going gets tough, you sing a motivational song," he said. Pheto congratulated the team not only upon doing well at the games but for good behaviour. "I thank you very much for exerting yourself well in a true Setswana way. We are very proud of you. You gave us maximum cooperation and we never had a problem with you," he said to applause.

The vice chairperson of the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) Dabilani Buthali congratulated the team saying every Motswana should be proud of the performance at the AAG. "You did all in the name of Botswana and that makes us proud and you have lived to the BNSC organ of 'earning your stripes'," he said. Buthali said the fact that the team managed to increase the medals from the last AAG is a clear indication that sport in Botswana has grown tremendously. He consoled those who did not bring medals and said in sport there is nothing like a loser. He said even those who did not bring medals went down fighting.
