The bitter memories of 2004 when Black Peril were declared null and void for failing to pay the P300 affiliation fee with the Botswana Football Association (BFA) were buried when the team made a dramatic return to top flight football last Thursday.

That they had to win the last game of the league against fellow promotion chasers Letlapeng FC of Ramotswa made the moment even more special. Lally Oabile's displays on the day left many wondering who that No.12 was and his goal in the 45th minute just confirmed what a great future the young striker has ahead of him.

With its rich history having seen greats such Ashford Mamelodi and Michael 'Spokes' Gaborone don their colours, Peril's demise not only mattered to its supporters but the soccer fraternity at large.  Sure their promotion has rekindled old memories of those times when they were amongst the country's top teams credited with playing a unique brand of carpet football.
