Mazembe crash out

TP Mazembe of DR Congo crashed out of the CAF Champions League losing 1-0 to Orlando Pirates in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

Pirates won 3-2 aggregate after winning the first leg 3-1 in Johannesburg a fortnight ago.Sunday's clash was full of drama. Pirates captain Lucky Lekgwathi was sent off in the first-half with Pirates officials describing the referee's decision as a "joke" and as if that were not enough, two penalties were awarded to Mazembe but Senzo Meyiwa was equal to the task on both occasions.

Mazembe now drop into the Confederations Cup while Pirates reach the Champions League group stage.In other results, AC Leopards of Congo Brazzaville reached the group stage after beating Entente Setif 5-4 on penalties.Leopards took a 3-1 advantage to Algeria ahead of their last 16 second leg, only for Entente to fight back, winning by the same margin at home but Leopards won the shoot-out.
