'Matsatsela' Laid To Rest

MOKATSE: Former Mochudi Centre Chiefs' left-winger, William 'Matsatsela' Kehitile was laid to rest in Mokatse near Modipane on Saturday morning.

Speakers at the burial described the departed player as a hardworking and well-mannered person.

Kehitile died on August 15 at the Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone and speakers at the funeral said they were shocked at the way he lost his life especially because he had a promising future. Chiefs' chairman, Ernest Molome said that when 'Matsatsela' first joined the club in 1993, they did not have confidence in his abilities as he was still young. "But he proved us wrong with some sterling performances for the team. He stood with the team during its tough times especially when we got relegated in 1994. Because of his commitment and that of other teammates, they ensured that Chiefs bounced back immediately. Maybe if it was not for his input, things could be different because maybe, the team could be playing in the lower divisions," he told the mourners. Molome said that Kehitile played for Magosi during difficult times when players used to buy themselves boots and make their own arrangements to attend training sessions. Councillor Mothusi Mpaku praised Kehitile for the contribution he made to the development of football in the area. He said he was the one who unearthed Kehitile's talent at an early age. He  is proud that the player became a big success at Chiefs. The councillor pleaded with the small clubs especially in the villages to release their players to bigger ones for the sake of progress.
