The Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) successfully hosted the second edition of the media tournament with Weekend Post's Leonard Matota crowned champion after beating Tshwarelo Motsomi of Echo 3-0 in a lively final.

This year's edition of the tournament was held at Naledi Senior School under the theme "An Informed Sports Journalist - A Pillar of Sports Development."Before the start of the tournament, International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) registered empire, Tebogo Kebadumetse, took the scribes through the basics of the game. He explained that the scoreboard should be blank prior to the start of a game before he spoke about the attire required for table tennis players.

Straight after the address, journalists slugged it out in the group stages and, as expected, pre-tournament favourites Duma FM's Macdonald 'Chillyboy' Rakgare and Tiro Lepotokise of RB1 sailed through to the quarterfinals. The two finalists for last year squared off in the quarterfinal and Rakgare emerged victorious. The 2011 winner, Rakgare, was then knocked out by Echo's Motsomi in the semi-final after going down 2-0. In the other semi, Matota beat Oaitse Mathala of Gazette 3-0. In fact, throughout the tournament none of Matota's opponents took a set, as he won all his matches, either 2-0 or 3-0. He won the first set in the final 10-5 before a tightly contested second set. At some stage, Motsomi looked to have a chance to take the set as he led 6-4, but his opponent proved too strong for him as he went on to win the set 11-7 to make it 2-0. Motsomi went down fighting in the final set after losing 10-8. Otsholetseng Lesetedi of RB2 was crowned ladies' champion after cruising past Gazette's Thato Dipao 2-0 in the final. Journalists hailed BTTA for the praise worthy initiative.
