Gaborone United (GU) parted ways with their Zimbabwean coach, Luke Masomere on Monday. The highly-rated tactician joined the Reds from Zimbabwean Premier League side, Masvingo FC last year and was expected to turn the struggling Moya-go-leele into a formidable side again.

At the time of his arrival, the Gaborone giants were performing under par and he immediately turned things around. He achieved some notable results after he roped in three quality Zimbabwean players in Sageby Sandaka, Edmore Mufema and Itayi Gwandu.
The three players contributed immensely to the Reds' fourth position in the Premier League. Sandaka scored an impressive 14 goals despite arriving midway through the season. Information reaching Mmegi Sport indicate that during a meeting on Monday, GU and Masomere could not agree on a new contract and they decided that it would be best to part ways.

Yesterday, Masomere confirmed that his stay at GU has come to an end. "When I came here, I was happy with all the things they promised me. I'm leaving GU a happy man and wish the team all the best. I hope the new coach who comes in, will deliver because there are good players," he said. He hopes that people will appreciate the effort he has put at the club and he would have loved to win some silverware during his stay.
"There's nothing you can do in one year and I was hoping to stay longer. Gilika (Kelisitse, club chairman) has been supportive to me until yesterday (Monday). But I want to make it clear that that I am not a bitter man and hope that I will get a better offer somewhere," he told Mmegi Sport.
