Maso sets sights on Olympic honours

At 35 marathoner Tiyapo Maso insists he has not yet gone over the hill and is dying to represent Botswana at the All Africa Games and next year's Beijing Olympics.

The last time he represented the country at that level was in 2000 Sydney Olympics when he was still 28. That was perhaps his highest point as an athlete, for he surprised many when he led the marathon pack for over an hour as the television screens around the world beamed him.

Since then, there have been the Thessalonica Olympics in Greece in 2004, the All Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria, in 2003, the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester, England, the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, all of which Maso missed. The likes of Bashingile Ndabili, Kaelo Mosalage, James John, Keineetse Moswasi, Kabo Gabaseme were given the nod by the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA).
