Maposa Out For Six Weeks

National Under-23 goalkeeper, Noah Maposa will be out of action for six weeks following the injury he sustained in the Olympic qualifier against Tunisia on Thursday. The Mochudi Centre Chiefs' custodian suffered a dislocated shoulder during the Young Zebras' historic second leg 1-0 defeat of visiting Tunisia at the National Stadium. Maposa was carried off the field and rushed to hospital in the 69th minute after colliding with a Tunisian player.

The goalkeeper has been a pillar of strength for the Dream Team and when he left the pitch, he received a standing ovation. He was replaced by Itumeleng Selapa from Palaye FC. Due to the injury, Maposa will miss both legs against South Africa in the All Africa Games qualifiers. This might be a blessing in disguise as the goalkeeper was due to miss the first leg against South Africa in Potchestroom on Sunday night because of suspension.

Speaking to Monitor Sport, Maposa was confident that he will get well soon. "I'm in pain but things will be fine. The support from people out there is also giving me strength," he said. He is disappointed that he will miss the return leg clash against South Africa on April 14 in Gaborone. Maposa is said to have attracted the attention of South African Premier League giants, Orlando Pirates. He said he wanted to prove his worth to Pirates during the second leg. "I'll encourage the other goalkeepers so that whoever is given the nod, he will do well," Maposa told Monitor Sport. Either Selapa or Notwane's Mompoloki Sephekolo will start against South Africa on Sunday.
