Malawi, South Africa Off To Winning Starts

Favourites, Malawi and South Africa performed up to expectations as they beat Lesotho and Zambia respectively in the ongoing Netball Youth World Cup qualifiers played yesterday at the UB Indoor Sports Centre. Malawi hammered a seemingly inexperienced Lesotho side 81-11.

The losing side equipped with relatively shorter players had a mammoth task against taller opponents. In the second game of the day, South Africa overcame Zambia with a 49-48 score.

The Baby Proteas attackers Stephanie Brandt (Goal Shooter), Charmaine Baard (Goal Attacker), and Khanyisa Chawanie (Centre) gave the Zambians defence a torrid time but they managed to make count of a leaky Proteas defence.
