Makgalemele withdraws from COSAFA elections?

Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Phillip Makgalemele is reported to have stepped down from contesting the COSAFA vice-presidency.

COSAFA holds elections to fill the position currently held in an acting capacity by Adam Mthethwa of Swaziland on Saturday in Mpumalanga, South Africa. Besides Makgalemele, the post has attracted the interest of Salemane Phafane, the president of Lesotho Football Association (LEFA).

Information reaching Mmegi Sport indicate that Makgalemele told the BFA National Executive Committee (NEC) that after serious consultations with those close to him, he has decided to withdraw from the COSAFA elections. It is understood that the BFA chief will be attending a funeral in Mahalapye, the same day in which elections will be held.
