A concerned group of parents of local swimmers have complained that the mother body, Botswana Swimming Sports Association (BSSA) favours their non-citizens counterparts.

A representative of the group, Kelebogile Molefe told Mmegi Sport this week that citizen swimmers are disadvantaged. She said non-citizen swimmers are always dominating competitions especially the African Swimming Confederation (CANA), which is the most important competition.

“Non-citizen swimmers get scholarships in CANA at the expense of citizens. You have to realise that non-citizen swimmers are not available to swim for Botswana at critical times as they go back to their countries. Citizens are not given the opportunity for exposure or development,” Molefe said.
