Local boxers off to a good start

Local pugilists got off to a winning start in their opening bouts at the ongoing Zone IV Elite Boxing Championships which are being held at the Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA) in Gaborone.

With no local boxer in action on Monday, Bathusi Mogajane was the first to step into the ring yesterday afternoon against Mozambican Crimildo Guifutela in the 49kg category.

Mogajane did not disappoint the local crowd as he easily trounced his opponent 20-8. Occupying the blue corner, Mogajane was cheered from the first round as he was all over his opponent with powerful punches. The small-framed boxer caught his man with well-timed punches almost sealing the bout in the first two rounds as he had very little to do in the last round scoring only four points.
