Letsholo, Kavindama win schools volleyball tourney

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Letsholo and Kavimba Primary Schools are this year's mini-volleyball champions in the girls and boys category respectively.

The two emerged victorious from a strong pool of teams. Letsholo dominated Lentswe-le-Moriti from Bobirwa in an exciting girls' final that adopted the timing system and not the set system. The final lasted 14 minutes and when the teams changed sides, Letsholo, from South Central region, were leading 12-9. The champions upped the tempo in the second stanza and eventually ran out 22-13 winners.

In the boys final, Kavimba from Chobe started strongly but lost steam to escape with a narrow 23-22 win against a determined Lorolwana. Although they lost, Lorolwana displayed character and dominated the second period of the 14-minute final. In the first half, the Kanye side looked jittery and in the end paid a heavy price for the slow start. Individual prizes went to Patience from Siviya Primary School and Botlhe Osieng as the most technically gifted players. The best technical teams were Hanahai in the girls' category while Xakau took the prize in the boys' section.
