Fans will be starved of Premier League action after the Botswana Premier League board decided to suspend matches indefinitely.

This follows an impasse over broadcast rights, which has seen Premier League matches go un-televised during the first half of the season.

The Premier League board met on Saturday and decided to shelve action pending discussions. The board will convene on January 22 when a new date will be announced. In the meantime, the BPL is expected to brief sponsors on the progress of the broadcast rights matter. CEO Bennet Mamelodi said the issue of rights should be solved within a week.
The Premier League suffered numerous setbacks in the past season, which culminated in the firing of general manager, Phuthego Setete. The league was scheduled to resume last weekend but had to be moved to allow the national team to play their friendly match against Angola in Johannesburg, South Africa on Sunday. The Zebras lost 2-0. An early start had been planned to allow the league to end in May, considering the continental club competitions in which Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Gaborone United are engaged.
