Kutlwano men lift capital bmw trophy

Kutlwano aka Big House defeated Diphatsa to lift this year's Capital BMW Volleyball Cup at Lobatse.

They thrashed Diphatsa 3-1 in the finals in a highly intensive game at the Lobatse Sports Complex on Saturday.Big house fans seemed to have predicted their triumph well in advance as they sang loudly and confidently with cocksureness. The trophy was last year won by BDF VI who were defeated by Kutlwano at Thebephatswa a week ago. However the final between Kutlwano and Diphatsa lived up to its billing as multitudes thronged the venue to witness the action. Emotions were high throughout the game. It seemed majority of fans hoped to see local powerhouse Kutlwano fall to Francistown side Diphatsa. Diphatsa kicked off the game on a high note, taking an early 7-1 lead. The tallest player in the team, Thabo Rebabonye helped score balls that were too high for anyone to reach. A disorganized Kutlwano however did not make the situation any better as they kept servicing their balls to the net or beyond Diphatsa's boarders.

The set however ended 25-20 after Kutlwano snapped back into the game. Kutlwano came back for the second set, proving that beating BDV VI the previous weekend was no hoax. Kutlwano's Thabo Seitshiro played a major part in destroying Diphatsa. Even those that supported Diphatsa acknowledged his presence. He played in all sections of the court but was more lethal in the front line. Seitshiro helped his team maintain an early 5-1 lead in the second set restoring hope to the Kutlwano fans. He was however cautioned for descent. However ,the referee's decision-making came into questions on several occasions at one point causing a misunderstanding among other match officials. Seitshiro scored the points that helped his team get clear off Diphatsa. Nlebesi helped Kutlwano claim the set when he serviced the ball to the net at a time Kutlwano needed that single point to take the set.
