It has not been smooth sailing for Mascom volleyball league men's champions, Kutlwano in the first round, which winds this weekend.

Their bid to retain the title is under threat as they remain fourth after winning seven of their 10 games. 'Big House' as the Gaborone side is also known at 25 points is at par with old rivals, Diphatsa. BDF VI and Police VI lie ahead with 33 points and 28 points respectively.  BDF are assured of the top spot as police cannot surpass their tally even if the cops win their outstanding fixture.  Despite Kutlwano's poor start, coach Isaac Samuel remains optimistic that his side will return a better side in the second round.

He said that they have identified their mistakes and will rectify them in the second round. Kutlwano's main problem was in the setting department. After losing Tjiyapo Madeluka to BDF, Big House had to switch attacker Meshack Mutambirwa to the setting position. Samuel said they intend to buy players during the transfer period.
