National Under-17 coach Kagiso Kaizer Kobedi has bemoaned the delay in starting preparations for the 10th CAN Under-17 Championships billed for Morocco in April.

The Diamond Zebras were scheduled to start their weekend camps on January 11, but are yet to group for training.Going into the last weekend of the month, their first weekend camp was yet to be confirmed yesterday morning.Botswana are in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Tunisia and Gabon. The tournament runs between April 13 to 17 and that leaves the team with six weekends before they hold a continuous camp.

The initial plan was that the team would not have a continuous camp but will engage in a series of weekend camps until the weekend of March 15-17.  The team is meant to go into a continuous camp on March 22, leaving for Morocco, the host nation, on March 30. Kobedi told Mmegi Sport that they were yet to hold a weekend camp. "We were to start on the weekend of the 11th, but we were not able to do so. The idea was to have weekend camps since the players are all school-going kids," he said.
