Knee injury hinders Tamba comeback

Former TAFIC Sporting Club and ECCO City Greens hitman, Robert Cliff Tambas attempt to resume chasing the pigskin once again on the domestic front has failed due to a niggling knee injury he sustained early last season.

The forgotten striker went into a total oblivion last July when ECCO released him following the reduction of the foreign quota from five players per club to only three, a development that rendered him jobless. The Zimbabwean-born forceful striker, who was linked to the premier league returnees in Great North Tigers (GNT) during the just ended January window period, failed to clinch a deal with the Premiership side after the team realiSed that the player has not fully recovered. According to GNT spokesperson, Mengistu Chigala, TambaÕs fitness in terms of a complete recovery from the left knee injury is questionable for the start of spring drills as witnessed during a training session recently.

Chigala said the 28-year-old forward was not walking well and struggling to make short sprints during a recent training session saying he does not think Tamba would be ready for play soon to help the club survive relegation."Our position on the log is uncomfortable. And we are expected to do everything within our reach to ensure that the club survives the looming relegation.
