Khubamang's dreams come true

It was a time of joy for Thuso Khubamang on Saturday when his long-held dream of staging a professional boxing event was finally realised. Until then, the boxer's attempts to stage professional bouts turned into jokes because of failures. His first attempt aborted in 2004 when the tournament was cancelled at the eleventh hour because it was said his co-promoters from South Africa had failed to insure the boxers.

Then in 2005, Khubamang was frustrated again when he was sidelined at one event held at Phakalane golf resort. He had been running around promoting the event, but he fell out with his partners who could not even allow him into the event. "It was frustrating in the past.

I would do all the spade work only to be cheated by my partners at the eleventh hour. This time I decided to go it alone," said an elated Khubamang a day after his dream came true.  The event was aired live on Botswana Television (Btv) and featured boxers from Botswana and South Africa. Khubamang said it was a demanding assignment and he has been working on it since August last year.
