Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) executive secretary, Kitso Kemoeng has confirmed his shock departure from the sports body after 20 years of service.

Kemoeng leaves the BNSC at the end of February 2012. The announcement of his impending departure comes after reports that his relationship with new BNSC chairperson, Solly Reikeletseng is strained. Kemoeng could not be drawn into discussing reasons for his departure.

"I am still an employee of BNSC and I will only answer your questions after I have left," he told Mmegi Sport. He will serve a three-month notice beginning December 1. Kemoeng joined the BNSC in April 1991 as an administration secretary and was appointed executive secretary in 2003. Despite the alleged sour relations, Reikeletseng sounded devastated about the news of Kemoeng's departure. "Honestly speaking, this has come as a shock to me. It is painful because I looked forward to achieving a lot with him," Reikeletseng said. He said he did not understand why Kemoeng was leaving after doing so much for sport.
