Julius under the spotlight again

Members of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) had to escort match officials off the Lobatse Stadium pitch at the end of a beMobile Premier League encounter between Extension Gunners and Gaborone United Sunday afternoon.

The officials feared for their lives following a series of ugly scenes throughout the match that left supporters of both sides enraged. Once again, referee Uyapo Julius came under the spotlight as he made multiple questionable decisions and failed to take control of the match in a game Gunners won 2-1. 

Dubious officiating began as early as the 20th minute when the referee allowed play to continue after United defender Gobonyeone Selefa, lying on the ground, pulled down Gunners' striker Crispen Mbewe with his hands right in front of Julius.
