The Botswana Judo Federation (BJF) National Executive Committee (NEC) has dismissed claims of a growing crisis within.

Responding to a questionnaire, the BJF NEC through its secretary general, Dorothy Tlagae said their committee was democratically elected in 2013, including members who are now disgruntled. She said despite concerns that elections were not fair, other bodies like the Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) and the Botswana National Sport Commission (then Council) monitored and declared the process fair.   Tlagae, however, admitted they faced challenges early this year after an annual general meeting that was supposed to be held on May 28 was rescheduled as the general assembly failed to form a quorum.

“The Annual General Meeting (AGM) was then held on June 2 at the BNSC offices, and the constitution provided us with a provision to do so.  Prior to the elections we also engaged the Registrar of Societies (RoS) to submit our annual returns and financial reports prior to the AGM,” Tlagae said.
