Jere wins Botswana international Open

Zambian Board 2 player, Daniel Jere, the winner of a silver medal and a bronze medal at the 2011 All Africa Games was on Sunday crowned the champion of the Botswana International Invitation Open, attended by players from Zimbabwe, Zambia, and South Africa.

Jere wins P6,500 cash prize, while the runner up, Zimbabwean champion Dion Moyo wins P4,000 cash prize, while No.3, Zambian Gillian Bwalya wins himself P3,500. Botswana's best finish was fourth place by Tebogo Pitlagano.
However there was a thin line between the trophy or nothing for Botswana on the final day of the tournament that started on  Friday.

Providence Oathotse who was only half a point behind Zambian Jere on the final day, faced off with the mighty Zambian on the top table for the ultimate prize. A win would obviously have seen the Botswana man clinch the trophy but after four hours of play Jere maintained his slight positional advantage to edge out the local lad.
