Interesting twist to league race

Notwane suffered further embarrassment, Gaborone United (GU) saw their title ambitions take a dent while Naughty Boys all but confirmed their departure from the elite league after Week 27 of the be MOBILE Premier League.

Defending champions, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, turned on the screws on leaders, GU, closing the gap to three points to set up a possible photo finish. Chiefs, five points behind going into the weekend, narrowed the deficit to just three after GU failed to get maximum points from their trip to Francistown against Tafic on Saturday.  GU settled for a 1-1 draw, which saw the Reds' title chase take a huge reversal but the result was enough to give the Gaborone side the premiership leadership for another week. Buoyant Chiefs, which has scored 21 goals in three outings, thumped Nico United 4-0 on Saturday evening.  The champions can take over at the summit if GU falters in their next assignment.

While GU seem to be losing form at a crucial stage of the season, Notwane's inconsistent season got worse when Toronto slumped to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of a rampageous ECCO City Greens. The disaster unfolding at Notwane has suddenly become too loud to ignore.  Coach Paul Moyo's future hangs by a thread while across town, Township Rollers' gaffer, Rahman Gumbo saw his side rally from two goals down to force a draw against BMC. The draw should give Gumbo a breather although he remains under pressure to push the former champions up the log.
