Inaugural bowls league launched

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The Botswana Bowling Association (BBA) has launched its inaugural Premier League with two streams, the south and north.

The first games were played last weekend. BBA spokesperson, John Gaborutwe said the games are played in singles, pairs, trips and fours for both women and men's categories. Gaborone hosted Jwaneng and in the North, Selebi-Phikwe travelled to Orapa in the first matches.

Shiela Spring of Gaborone beat Tshenolo Moshokgo of Jwaneng by 21 shots, 14 in the first singles matches, while Gaborone also won the the pairs match. In the ladies pairs Spring and Lebo Makhupe of Gaborone beat Moshokgo and Mpopi Pelemo of Jwaneng by 22 shots to 10. The trio of Ivy Morton, Bonnie Fox and Chucks Robert beat Tirelo Buckley, Juliet
