FRANCISTOWN: The inaugural P500,000 be MOBILE Francistown Marathon was officially launched on Wednesday as the cellular services provider spreads its involvement in sport. The company also bankrolls the Botswana Premier League. There are other sponsors and strategic partners but be MOBILE has been granted naming rights as they are the main financier of the Francistown Marathon.

The marathon is meant to be an annual event with the first edition billed for February 15, 2015 under the theme ‘City Comes Alive’.

The Local Organising Committee chairman, Ben Tobedza flanked by the committee’s director Stellan Bengtson, said that the purpose of the event is to bring life to the city of Francistown. “Everything is centred in Gaborone even the social and entertainment aspect of life. We want the race to bring life to Francistown,” Tobedza said yesterday.
