Mahalapye Hotspurs striker, Tebogo Kenosi has scored the fastest ever goal in the BTC Premiership’s after netting 12 seconds into his team’s clash against BDF XI on Sunday.

However, the rookies went on to lose 3-1 in a match played at the Molepolole Sports Complex. It was Hotspurs who started the game, and after just two exchanges in the middle of the park, a long through ball was lobbed into Kenosi’s path. The former Uniao Flamingo Santos striker surged past Keolopile Moremi and then beat Ontiretse Gaothobogwe to the far post with a powerful low drive. “At the time, I was just happy to have scored for my team, but after the match I was told it is the fastest goal in the league (history).  I am actually honoured; this is all down to the training we do as a team. I want to give thanks to my coach and my team mates for pushing me hard at training,” Kenosi said. He further said although his main objective is to help the team avoid relegation, he would also relish the chance of getting the Green Boot award. “We have to work for one another for the benefit of the team, but it is every player’s dream to win it (the green boot),” he said.  Kenosi’s celebrations were however cut short as he sustained an arm injury mid way through the game, but is yet to confirm the extent of the injury. “We are yet to confirm if it is broken or not. I will be going for a scan. From there I will know how long I will be out,” Kenosi said.

The Goodhope-born lad has played for Mogoditshane Fighters in the First Division, BMC and Santos, where Hotspurs signed him. “It is never too late. The reason I signed for Hotspurs is because I wanted to have regular game time. I will use this as a stepping stone in my career, to attract a more lucrative contracts from the big teams,” Kenosi said on making his elite league debut at the age of 25. Meanwhile, Hotspurs who are rooted to the bottom of the log will be looking to get their first league point when they play Green Lovers at the Serowe Sports Complex tonight. Black Forest, who put up a brave fight against Township Rollers last Friday, welcome Gaborone United at the Molepolole Sports Complex and Extension Gunners will battle for three points with Security Systems. All the games kick off at 7pm.
