Highlanders and Hotspurs in Mahalapye derby

SELEBI-PHIKWE: BR Highlanders and Mahalapye Hotspurs will this weekend battle for the unofficial crown of village kings as they face each other in a First Division North encounter.

Kick off is 3:30 pm. Highlander go into the game as favourites after a win against former Premier League side, Motlakase Power Dynamos last weekend. Hotspurs, who cannot be underestimated, have been inactive for two weeks. In their last encounter, Hotspurs beat new boys, Sankoyo Bush Bucks 2-1.  Highlanders coach Lebitso Ratlou told Mmegi Sport that they have prepared well for the big game. However, Ratlou acknowledges that it is difficult to predict results in a derby.

"We will not take anything for granted. Hotspurs have not been doing well, but that does not make them walkovers. They might give us a run for our money on the day. We are aware that the game means a lot to them, but we will be on guard," he said. Ratlou said his side has been boosted by the Motlakase win. Hotspurs coach, Dikatso Ngwako said he expects his side to win the game. He explained that a lot is at stake in the game besides the points, including bragging rights. Ngwako said they are thoroughly prepared for Highlanders and their win over Bush Bucks was a sign of good things to come.
