Hectic BNOC schedule forces Olympic Day postponement

FRANCISTOWN: Olympic Day commemorations have been postponed to September due to the tight schedule by the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC).

Local sports enthusiasts were expected to join the rest of the world next Monday to celebrate the Olympic Day, but the commemorations have been moved to September in Masunga.

BNOC communications and marketing manager, Mpho Motlhabane said their schedule is tight due to the Commonwealth Games and the 2014 Youth Olympics.  “In July, we will be in Glasgow (for the 2014 Commonwealth Games). And in August, our athletes will be heading for Nanjing (China). Our schedule is tight,” explained Motlhabane.
