Gunners switch venue of rugby sevens

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The one-day rugby sevens tournament to be hosted by Eastern Military Garrison (EMG) Gunners tomorrow has been switched from Makhubu Club to the Selebi-Phikwe Stadium.

Gunners' spokesperson, Modesto Mazambe explained that they decided to change the venue because games are expected to finish late and there will be need for floodlights. 

He stated that entry is free. Sixteen men's teams and six women sides are expected to do battle in the one-day tournament. Mazambe said that teams are drawn from the A and B divisions of the national league. Some of the teams that in the tournament are Gunners, Francistown Sharks, Jwaneng, Wildebeests, Metsimotlhabe Gideons, Palapye Bulls, Mochudi, BDF Cheetahs, BDF Thebephatshwa, Mahalapye, Gaborone Hogs, Kasane, Francistown Tuskers and Gantsi Hungry Lions. The favourites are Sharks and Hogs. Sharks recently won a seven's tournament held in Jwaneng while the BRU League defending champions, Hogs emerged victorious in the one staged Gaborone last weekend.
