Gunners, Motlakase to continue abandoned tie

The abandoned be MOBILE Premier League match between Extension Gunners and Motlakase Power Dynamos will continue from the time it was stopped when they replay next week Saturday.

Premier League CEO, Bennett Mamelodi confirmed to Mmegi Sport yesterday that the match, which was stopped after only 30 minutes due to a power blackout at the Selebi-Phikwe town council stadium, has been rescheduled to March 9 at the same venue. He said as per the amendments to play rules and regulations that were made by the National Executive Committee (NEC) last year, the match will continue from the time it was stopped by the officials.

In the new amendments, only matches that were stopped due to natural causes like lightning are replayed from the beginning, while those stopped due to man-made causes will just continue. Power failure is therefore considered a man-made cause, thus the decision to continue the match. Mamelodi, however, said he was still to consult the legal advisor on other regularities of the match. The Tuesday night tie was abandoned after 30 minutes with Gunners in the lead from a 17th minute Katlego Koobake goal.
