Extension Gunners are reportedly close to signing a long-term kit sponsorship and merchandise deal with a Chinese sportswear firm.

The Chinese firm's representatives watched the Lobatse giants winning the Coca-Cola Cup last month and thereafter, the club chairman, Ludo Kemoeng, flew to the Asian country to possibly seal a deal. It is said the unnamed firm may handle Gunners merchandise business starting next season. "The chairman left for China two weeks ago and he is yet to return. One of the things that he will do during his stay in China is to seal the kit and merchandise deal," a source said. It is understood the deal will transform the club from rags to riches if well managed. It comes after Gunners ended a 19-year drought by winning the Coca-Cola Cup.

"It could be a good deal to be working with these guys (Chinese firm) because they look like a good brand and it is a clear sign of the improvements the club has made in the just-ended season," said the source. Gunners' manager, Mashlow Motlogelwa, confirmed that Kemoeng is currently in China on a business trip.
