GU seeks top spot

Gaborone United (GU) meet Notwane tonight at the National Stadium seeking to go top of the national soccer league for the first time since the 1990s.

A win for the Reds will give them 13 points, one ahead of early pace-setters Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The fallen Gaborone giants have won their last three matches to mark their best Premier League start since they came back from a lengthy stint in the First Division. Ahead of the Notwane game, new GU coach, Jethro Hunidzarira said morale is high in the camp despite the fact that his youthful charges will be facing seasoned and experienced side. He said the fact that GU has won all their games is a good foundation because he is building a team for the future. He added that players from Notwane and GU need no motivation for tonight's game given the fierce rivalry between the two sides. The bad news for GU is that midfielder, Tshepo 'Schoolboy' Molefe will miss the game due to injury while captain, Bosarutweng 'Booster' Magola is suspended. However, striker, Sageby Sandaka and midfielder, Itayi Gwandu remain the key figures for Moyagoleele in tonight's game.

Notwane go to the game seeking to improve their standings on the log after a poor start. Toronto does not seem to have recovered from its loss of form towards the end of last season and currently occupy 10th spot in the standings with five points after five games.
