GU, Chiefs set to clash in inaugural Super Cup

Premier League giants Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Gaborone United (GU) will be the first clubs to contest the inaugural Super Cup, the brainchild of the two top-flight clubs.

The Super Cup, a competition in the mould of England's season opener, the Charity Shield, will become an annual feature contested by the winners of the Premier League and the premier knockout competition, which was the Coca-Cola Cup.
However, the Coca-Cola sponsorship ran out last year with new backers expected this season. The new competition was unveiled in Gaborone yesterday at a media briefing hosted by the two clubs.

GU are the holders of the Coca-Cola Cup while Chiefs won the be MOBILE Premier League title. The first leg of the tournament will be played at the UB Stadium tomorrow, with the return exactly a week later at the same venue. The UB Stadium management has partnered with the two clubs and offered the venue at a nominal fee.
