Golfers ready to tee-off in Orange Golf Classics

The 2013 Orange Golf Classics edition scheduled for the weekend of November 23 and 24 was launched on Tuesday, with organisers saying the 11-year event has grown.

The championship, which will take place at the Phakalane Golf Estate, was first played in November 2002.

Botswana Golf Union (BGU) executive committee member, Martin Mogomela, told journalists in Gaborone this week that the championships promote golf as well as provide elite players with competitive opportunities.  The tournament is also used to rank local players. He said that since its inception, the championship has been a men’s only event tournament until 2010 when women were allowed to enter.
