Golden year

World Championships gold and a second consecutive All Africa Games gold medal, cap a golden moment for Botswana and Amantle Montsho in the year 2011.

The Botswana golden woman went on to be nominated for the Athletes of the Year by the International Athletics Federation (IAF), this year. She was among the top three women vying for the honour.It was a year of top-notch performance for Montsho who also won the IAAF Diamond League Trophy in September. Montsho enjoyed unparallel success as she finished top of the world rankings in her 400m category. She didn't only cap the year with the Diamond League Trophy, Montsho also finishes as the women's top 400m athlete in the world this year.

Since May 5, the start of the Samsung Diamond League, Montsho has won four of the races and finished second in two, earning her $52,000 or P360, 000 before the grand finale on September 16, that took her total earnings from the Samsung Diamond League season alone to US$92,000 (P644, 000).
