GNT Halt Highlanders' Unbeaten Run

FRANCISTOWN: BR Highlanders' unbeaten run came to an end on Saturday after they lost 3-2 to Great North Tigers (GNT) in a First Division North game played in an empty stadium.

GNT showed that they mean business as early as the fifth minute but striker Keabetswe Batunda  failed to score in a face-off with the goalkeeper. GNT opened the score in the 18th minute through Letsogile Mothowaeng whose long range shot gave BR Highlanders' goalkeeper, Alaista Matuadzu no chance.

Five minutes before halftime, Silas Kemiso levelled for Highlanders after GNT goalkeeper  Lerato Keamogetswe made a schoolboy error. The custodian mishandled a cross from Holiness Mlilo and the ball sailed into the net. The score was 1-1 at the break. In the second half, Highlanders made a double substitution but it was GNT which took the lead through Poloko Seduke from a set-piece. Mothowaeng completed  his brace from a rebound after the goalkeeper punched  the ball back to him to make it 3-1. Highlanders' assistant coach, Moseki Letebejane said he was not  happy with his team's  performance.
