GCC dominates Wharic cycle challenge

Gaborone Cycling Club (GCC) made a clean sweep at the main events in the Wharic Cycle Road Race yesterday.

Riders from GCC won the men and women races with Victor Potgietor finishing first in the 108 kilometres road race with a time of 3:04:04, while Nadine Mynhardt triumphed in the female event by clocking 3:38:00. Coming second behind Potgietor was Tsela Riders' Bright Chipong with Anout Vander Geest also Tsela finishing second in the women category.

Speaking to Sport Monitor after his triumph, Potgietor said that he enjoys sprints and long distances because that is where his strengths lie. "I won this race because from the starting point, everyone bunched together and this gave me a chance to show my strength by sprinting at the end."
