Five countries arrive for COSSASA GAMES

Athletes from five countries arrived yesterday for the Confederation Of School Sports Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) Games, which start today.

Athletes from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia join hosts, Botswana for the two-day competition in which over 270 athletes will be participating. The event is meant for primary school pupils and has been divided into two categories, the Under-13 and Under- 17.

The competition got a major boost on Wednesday when it received a sponsorship from bottled water Company 03, The Chemical Man and the Ministry of Education and Skills Development. The sponsorship in excess of P80, 000 was in the form of laptops, pads, water and athletes and officials' regalia. Speaking for the sponsors, O3 beverages manager, Itseng Kwelagobe thanked COSSASA for allowing his company to be part of the event. He said they were proud to be part of the journey that COSSASA has embarked on. Kwelagobe wished the Botswana team well and encouraged Batswana to attend in numbers to support the team.
