First Division giant sinks

For many years, Wonder Sporting was regarded as a giant of First Division football even before the league was divided into South and North regions.

But times have changed and the SSG side has now been relegated from the division after a poor run. Though regarded as a First Division power, promotion to top flight football has always eluded Wonder Sporting, which seemed content with their 'giant' status.

Before the last games of the First Division two weeks ago, there was still some hope
of survival. The club had a mathematical chance of avoiding the chop because at the time, the other two bottom teams, Masitaoka and Kumakwane Checkers were also in great danger. Checkers' 2-1 victory against Moshupa-based Kgabosetso Southern Callies was not enough to save them and they finished just one place above Wonder Sporting.
