Fighters found guilty of match-fixing

In an unprecedented move in local football, Mogoditshane Fighters have been found guilty of match-fixing after they lost their promotional play-off match 12-2 to Jwaneng Comets on Saturday.


The Premier League promotional play-offs organising committee found Fighters guilty of deliberately giving away the game to Comets. Fighters were slapped with a six-month suspension and a P6000 fine.

On Sunday, the Jwaneng side beat their only promotion rivals, Miscellaneous 1-0 to qualify for the Premier League on better goal difference after the 12-2 wallop of Fighters. But matters have taken a different turn after Fighters were found guilty of match-fixing.
