FIBA puts off BBA plans

Botswana's Basketball Association (BBA)'s international friendly tournament plan has been put off after FIBA announced the dates for the Afro Basket Zone Six qualifiers.

The six-day qualification tournament kicks off on Sunday, which means the team must travel to Maputo on Saturday. The senior national basketball teams were to gauge their readiness for the qualifiers at the North West University tournament in Mafikeng, South Africa, this Saturday.

However, the team will now plunge into the Maputo games without any significant friendly match.National team assistant coach James Kalebwe said the new dates had interrupted their preparations."It (FIBA announcement) has in a way messed up our preparations but we are trying to do with what we have right now because we anticipated a situation like this. We are working around it as best as we can," Kalebwe told Mmegi Sport.
