Favourable draw for softball team

Botswana has been paired with the United States of America (USA), Australia, China, Venezuela, New Zealand, Dominique Republic and Czech Republic in Group B of the women World Softball Championships.

Botswana Softball Association (BSA) spokesperson Kabelo Kwape said save for 2006 runners-up USA, Australia and New Zealand, there is not much to separate Botswana from the other three opponents.

In Group A, the only other African country in the competition, South Africa, face defending champions Japan, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Netherlands, Great Britain, Argentina and Cuba. The World Championships will be played in Caracas, Venezuela in June. In their last appearance in 2006, Botswana finished 14 out of 16 countries. This is the finish by Botswana women since they began competing in the tournament in 1994.
