Fani gets cosafa seat as patel retains presidency

Botswana will be represented in the regional soccer governing body for the next five years after Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, David Fani was elected to the Confederation of Southern African Football Association (COSAFA) executive committee at the general assembly in Gaborone on Friday.

Fani becomes the only new member to the committee. Botswana has not been represented in COSAFA since honorary president Ishmael Bhamjee and secretary general Ashford Mamelodi quit in 2006.

Speaking to Sport Monitor over the weekend, Fani said it was a good thing that the country has secured representation in COSAFA, as Botswana would have a say in decision making on important soccer issues in the region.
