End of the road for Butler?

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) is unlikely to renew Zebras coach, Peter Butler’s contract when it expires next March, Mmegi Sport is reliably informed. Butler, has endeared himself to the fans with his young project, but has reportedly been a “management challenge” for the BFA.

“It appears there are relationship issues with his employer and therefore I doubt if he will be given an extension. He has done well with the team but other factors have to be considered,” the source said.

Butler refused to reveal much regarding his future after guiding the Zebras to their first ever COSAFA Cup final last Saturday. His charges fought bravely but fell 3-2 to South Africa. But sources close to the coach say he is keen to stay as he has fallen in love with Botswana football. Reports say the BFA was preparing to fire Butler had he not reached the final of the COSAFA Cup.
