ECCO Handcuff Police XI

National champions, ECCO City Greens had a fruitful trip to the south, when they beat Police XI 2-0 in a Mascom Premier League game in an empty Police College Stadium in Otse.

The visitors started the game with urgency and forced their opponents on the back-foot for most of the first half. Despite missing striker Mandla Sibanda, ECCO City were still troublesome with youngster Bonolo Fraizer leading the onslaught.

The Premier League champions opened the scoring in the 27th minute when skipper Malepa 'Chippa' Bolelang rose high to head home Boitumelo Modisaotsile's curling free-kick. Police XI goalkeeper Jackson Legodi deserves the blame for not coming out to cut the cross. After the goal, ECCO spurred by less than 20 supporters raided their opponents' half repeatedly. They could have stretched the lead in the 39th minute but Fraizer shot over the bar after some neat exchange with Tebogo Sembowa. ECCO scored their second goal in the 45th minute when Sembowa found himself unmarked inside the box and easily put the ball past Legodi.
