Debswana Corporate Communications Manager Jacob Sesinyi has expressed concern about the way sport is losing sponsors. He urged all the stakeholders to come together to do something about the situation.

He was speaking at the sponsorship ceremony for the Debswana Volleyball Independence Challenge Cup. This year the company sponsored the tournament with P99,000. Sesinyi is worried that some codes are not doing enough to find out what has really gone wrong with the sponsors.

"I do not think they are no longer interested. Sport used to have sponsors and that was time when there were only few companies. Something is not right," he said.
He urged umbrella bodies like Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) and Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) to help affiliates find sponsors. He suggested that sports bodies in Botswana should copy what their counterparts in foreign countries do to keep sponsors.
