DMMS swimmers dominate 7th UB Gala

Thornhill based swimming club Dmss Gators on Saturday accumulated 2976 points to to win the 7th UB Gala held at the University of Botswana.

Botswana Defence Force(BDF) side BDF Dolphins came 2nd with 2,046 points after their swimmers dominated the senior category of 100m Free style and the 50 metres breast stroke as well as the 50 metres butterfly at the Swimming Gala.  The soldiers club dominated in the 16 year old category, the 17-24 years old category, and the 25 and over category in the events.  The Gala saw  six clubs, including Kubu swimming club of Francistown competing in 12 events. Dmss also romped away with the women team honours, where they scored 1,094 beating  Northside based Bev's Swimming Academy to 2nd with 975. The Dmss would also top the men's team rankings with 1,882 points followed by BDF with 1,646, Bev's Swimmign Academy on third with 698, and UB and Gaborone Aquatic Club on 4th and 5th respectively.

Athletes  from DMSS Gators reigned in the boys U-8, U-9, U-10, U-11, U-12, of the 50m frestyle. DMMS club also was unstoppable in the breastroke where they dominated in boys Under-8,U-10,U-11 U-12,as well as girls U-11 100m free-style. The U-13 and U-14 girls medals also went to the DMSS, as they cemented their reputation in developing young talent. In the relay events, Dmss also took three and came 2nd in one as they completed their dominance at the Gala.
