The team failed to defend their early second half lead; allowing Mali to recover and score two goals to partner Ghana to the quarter finals. Coach Stanley Tshosane made a major shake up bringing three changes to the line up that started against Guinea.

Moemedi Moatlhaping made a return to the starting 11 operating on the right flank, while Mogakolodi Ngele was preferred over veteran Dipsy Selolwane to operate behind the lone striker Jerome Ramatlhakwana.
